Judy Colvin Workshops

Better & Beautiful Felted Purse
Saturday June 13th, 9am – 4pm
Cost: $65

This class is a good introduction to the world of wet felting so we encourage enthusiastic students to start here.

For this project students will learn to make a pre-felt, then felt and embellish a purse. Also make a felted cord worked in as a strap. This sounds simple, and in many ways it is simple. But Judy has taken this concept and perfected each step so the end product functions as beautifully as it looks. Great purses!

Students bring: several old towels, an apron, and a pair of scissors.

Judy Colvin of Bitterroot Fiber Arts Studio (St. Ignatius, MT), became interested in fiber arts about 20 years ago when she learned to spin and acquired her first fiber-producing animals. Judy rediscovered the art of felting about five years ago and realized it has been going through some amazing transitions. Her initial introduction was to needle-felted hats by Sherry Konya of Wool for Ewe Farm.

Judy has since taken a class with Chad Alice Hagen and hosted Australian felter Julie Williams for a week of traditional wet felting. She has attended the Midwest Felters Symposium in Madison, Wisconsin, where she took classes with Pat Spark of Washington and Ewa Kuniczak of Scotland. She took several workshops taught by Annemie Koenen of Holland.

Judy teaches felting workshops on both an individual and group basis.
