Randy Glick Workshops

Spinning Splendid Singles
Friday, June 12th, 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $30 (includes the fiber)
Class Level: Intermediate (must be able to spin)

Great yarns are like music, composed of many parts that all have to work together! Let’s take some time to become friends with our wheel and have it produce the singles that will become the basis for great yarn. We will talk about how to make our wheel work for us, different fiber preparations, and spinning those dazzling singles.

Students bring: Your wheel, three empty bobbins, and a lazy kate. Fiber will be provided, but feel free to bring your most “challenging fiber” to try out.

Perfect Plying
Sunday, June 14th, 9am – 12pm
Cost: $30
Class Level: Intermediate (should understand the basics of plying)

Building on Splendid Singles, we will explore techniques that will have you “composing” perfect yarns for your next project. We will try some techniques designed to help you with typical plying problems, and a technique or two that you may have always wanted to try but were afraid to.

Students bring: If you are not taking the singles class, you should have two or three bobbins of singles, an empty bobbin to ply onto, and a lazy kate to ply from.

Randy Glick enjoys spinning, weaving and knitting surrounded by the mountains, plains and rivers of north central Montana. He enjoys the challenge of blending his educational background (process engineering) with the fiber arts, taking the processes and exploring ways to perfect the methods. Randy has been teaching spinning both formally and informally for a number of years and has won awards for his handspun yarns. He has served as the President of the Great Falls Spinners & Weavers Guild and enjoys promoting fiber arts, especially in fiber rich Montana.
