Altered Fabric for Postcards and Framed Art
Saturday 1pm-4pm $40
Paint backgrounds on fabric and stamp with simple stamps that you make in class. Finish with stitching and collage materials. In this class you will make simple stamps, do image transfer and experiment with a variety of acrylic color applications on fabrics. Your work will become 4X6 postcards and ready to frame art. Playing like a 6 year old is highly encouraged. The instructor will provide fabric, stamp making tools and materials, and all specialty items needed. Students bring: Acrylic paint — at least 1 light, 1 medium, 1 dark and 1 metallic color. (Cheap craft paints are fine, as are textile paints.) Margarine tubs, medium painter’s paint brush, basic sewing kit and “stuff” for embellishment.
Folded Fabric Book
Sunday 9am-4pm $80
In this class you will alter one square foot of fabric with paint, image transfers, and your own stamp carved in class. Simply by cutting and folding, you will turn it into a small 6-page book. Further embellishment with stitches, words, applied found objects and sewing left-overs will turn it into a wild story, a fanciful thought or a Hallmark moment. The instructor will provide fabric, stamp making tools and materials, and all specialty items needed.
Students bring: Acrylic paint — at least 1 light, 1 medium, 1 dark and 1 metallic color. (Cheap craft paints are fine, as are fabric paints.) Margarine tubs, medium painter’s brush, basic sewing kit and “stuff” for embellishment (snippets of ribbon, lace, buttons, etc…).
