Deemed the key to the future, see how designers and fiber artists can use electronic media as a very useful tool to aid the creative process. Get a broad overview of realistic achievements and what you can expect to get out of the computer. Sample some of the various software available.
“CAD” is a new and exciting way to “visualize” work beforehand. Experiment a lot more without a lot of extra investment in materials and time. Covered also will be down-to-earth information on price, peripherals, on-line help services and the dreaded “learning curve.” Learn from this professional designer.

This is the class for ALL crochet fans to take. You will learn so many secrets to make crocheting life easier and better. Find out how to work a foundation chain that is not too tight. Join a new skein of yarn or a new color without losing that first stitch. See ways of attaching buttons as you work. Create invisible circular joins where the beginning and end are absolutely imperceptible. Take away lots of small “fix-its” and improve those details.
Designing Better Crocheted Fashion Garments
Sunday 9am-12pm $40
The stereotype of crocheted clothing is that of suits of armor. To avoid the stiff look, this class will analyze the elements that go into good garment design and figure out how to achieve this in our medium. Discussed will be fitting, fabric, drape, graphics, visuals, color, stitches, texture, silhouette, line, construction, and more. Students should be intermediate crochet level. Learn from the woman who wrote the brand new book “Couture Crochet”.

Open to all, no questions too large or small. Learn all the little secrets to make knitting life easier and better. Find out how to cast on in 2-tail method without running out of the second tail. Join a new skein of yarn or a new color without losing that first stitch. Create invisible circular bind offs on a neck where the beginning and end are absolutely imperceptible. Weave in those little ends that are too short to put through a darning needle. Take away lots of small “fix-its” and improve those details.

Lily Chin has designed knitwear for magazines and yarn companies for nearly 25 years. She has worked with designers Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, and Isaac Mizrahi. Her work has been on the backs of celebrities and super models. She is the author of Knit and Crochet with Beads, The Urban Knitter, and Mosaic Magic. She has written the “On Designing” column for Knitter’s Magazine and the annual “Focus on Fibers” report for Knit ‘n Style. Lily also is the reigning champion fastest crocheter in the world. Lily Chin regularly appears as a spokesperson for the yarn industry in media across the U.S., including Time, the New York Times, USA Today, the David Letterman Show, the CBS Early Show, DIY’s Knitty Gritty, E! Style Network’s Craft Corner Death Match, Lifetime’s Handmade by Design, HGTV’s Sew Much More, and CNN. Lily Chin has lived in New York City nearly all her life and has been involved in some aspect of the fashion industry since age 13. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, and was educated at Queens College, City University of New York.
