Knitting Machines 101
Saturday, June 11th 9 am – Noon

Know your machine and its care. Basic techniques for beginners and those needing a refresher. Just where is your needle retaining bar and what do you need to fix it? This will be a hands on workshop with machines for knitting samples and lessons.

This is a hands-on workshop but knitting machines will be available for students to use.

Muriel will teach ways to knit beyond the basics on your machine with hand manipulated stitches such as cables, lace and intarsia, plus she will include techniques for handspun yarn.

This is a hands-on workshop but knitting machines will be available for students to use.

Sunday, June 12th 9 am – Noon
Cost: $35

In this garment design workshop students will learn where to nip and tuck; the basics of charting and constructing a sweater, plus some finishing tips and tricks.

Knitting Machines 104
Sunday, June 12th 1 pm – 4 pm
Cost: $35

We’ve got the tools that came with the machine we’re using. Sometimes we don’t have the tool we want or need, though. Our choices: find a dealer and buy what we want; use a tool from another machine; use something that works but isn’t a machine tool, or “invent” one. This workshop is about accessories, handy-dandy things to know, and more knitting techniques.

This is a hands-on workshop but knitting machines will be available for students to use.

Muriel Donker got her first knitting machine in 1981, and has been buying and selling them ever since. She is familiar with almost all machines, from the plastic hobby machines to electronic machines, plus hand knits. She uses both commercial yarn and handspun yarns, so there will both at her workshops at the BSFAF. Muriel teachs workshops near and far from her home in Hillsboro, OR and regularly teaches at Pacifically Passap Seminar.
