Shari Hirst Workshops

Knitting Should Be Fun
Saturday, June 13th, 1pm – 4pm
Cost: $30
Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of cast on, knitting, and purling is needed.

This workshop will help the thinking knitter to take advantage of all the wonderful yarns and patterns that are available in the knitting world.

Using Basic Body Shape patterns and working from the top down, you can use your choice of fiber and knit a garment for any size person, with your choice of stitch. Learn a couple of techniques, review the schematics in the patterns, and see a variety of possibilities from the basic pattern. Learn invisible cast on and some wonderful finishing techniques.

Students bring: One pair of #8 needles and about 5 oz. of worsted weight yarn, pencil & paper, and a calculator.

Shari will supply copies of the schematics for review. Pattern packs can be purchased at the class for $5.00 each.

Shari Hirst has been knitting for over 50 years. She traveled in many countries and always had problems finding patterns for the beautiful fibers that she found. After much time and many garments that never fit the people they were intended for, she developed the Basic Body Shapes.

Shari has taught Design Construction, Project Classes, and Beginning Classes in Missoula, MT, Condon, MT, and Friday Harbor, WA. She writes patterns for Mountain Colors and has her own special kits.
